I have a velodyne dps 12 that i have had for about 7 or 8 years. it has stopped working and i'm wondering should i fix it or buy something new? if i should fix it....how do i get it apart?

Unless you are experienced in repair, and have test equipment, this is not something you will service yourself.

Velodyne are good at repairing their products at reasonable rates. I would contact them for advice before proceeding further. The you can decide on repair or replacement.
