Velodyne DD12 or Velodyne DD15

I have a friend who wants to add a sub to his HTS. He is trying to decide between the DD12 and the DD15. When he was in town, he came over and I let him listen to my DD12, and he really loved what he heard. However, his listening room is larger than mine. His room is 28x18x8 (length, width, height). So, he's really concerned if the DD12 will do the job or should he step up to the DD15. He doesn't have the luxury of bringing them home because no dealer in his area has the DD12 or the DD15 in stock. So, eithe way he will have to order the sub. So based on the dimensions of the room do you think the DD12 will get the job done or should he step up to the DD15? To me, I don't see much of a difference between the two when I went to Velodyne's site and looked at the specs. on both of them.

Since it is for home theater and the price difference is not a factor I would go with the DD15.

dd15 has a bigger magnet than the dd12. but i would suggest that he get the dd18 just for the headroom.

Of the DD range, Velodyne's website suggests for that size closed room:

Once again, I knew you guys would come through. I am going to recommend that my friend gets the DD18. That way, he will have everything covered and leave not doubt or what if. If that's too pricey for him then I am going to suggest that he get the DD15. Based on the room size, the DD15 should be as small as he goes. Once again, thanks for your time and the replies. I truly appreciate it.

DD-12 logo amber light is on all times.

My DD-12 logo amber light is on all the times since a week. So it is in night mode all the times. I tried to change the setup by remote . Sub is not responding to any command by remote. The sub is only 4 months old. There is no local dealer. Please help me to trouble shoot. Thank you.

Is the remote working? Are the batteries flat? Does the red light at the top of the remote come on when you press the buttons? Have you tried restarting the sub at the wall?

Hi,
It's a good idea to check the remote batteries. Next turn the DD-12 off and unplug the power cord and wait a minute or so. Plug the DD back in and turn it on. If it will receive remote commands, do a reset by pushing 8-9-0 on the remote. This will erase any saved eq's or presets, so you might want to take notes of saved info. If the amber light is still on or the DD won't accept remote inputs, then contact Velodyne service at; service@velodyne.com or (408) 465-2800, ext. 3851.
