Velodyne CHT Front Row System

I bought a bigger bed, and now my Klipsch towers have to go. There isn't enough room. I guess I shouldn't have sold my athena point 5 setup or the micras before that. Anyway, I'm looking at this Velodyne CHT system on closeout. Anyone know anything about it? How it might compare with the athena sat/small bookshelf offerings? This is for a small bedroom 12'x10'x8'. The velos are sealed enclosures and can be wall mounted. They would be powered by an HK AVR125 which has a fixed crossover of 100Hz when set to "small". I'm thinking about an x-sub from av123 or a diy 8" or 10" for the low end.

Any input or opinions are appreciated.

Ya know...what have you got to lose. Velodyne makes good stuff... they probably are a bargain at $200.

That's what I'm thinking Ron. Plus they're right down the street (Morgan Hill). Maybe I could get some kind of discount for picking them up. I know it's free shipping, but that's added into the cost somewhere.

The only thing that bugs me is the 90Hz spec, and they don't give a -3dB spec. For $200 bones, seems like they'd be a good deal though.

The Athena Micra 6 is still only $299 at Best Buy, though I doubt it's sub would compare to the likes of the x-sub or a DIY.

Yeah, I would prefer if the CHT's went a little lower in frequency response, but my receiver (HK125) has a set crossover point of 100Hz when the speakers are set to small. Unless I set all speakers to large, I really wouldn't be able to take advantage of a speaker with a larger frequency range and still use the crossover in my receiver. I guess I could always run the mains through the subs hi level inputs.

I found this review, but I can't confirm if these are the same speakers or not. The specs look very similar.

Those look like the ones...pretty impressive review. Even if Velo changed a couple of specs, I bet they perform the same. I actually got a chance to see that expensive bookshelf speaker mentioned...great looking speaker, but unfortunately just a trophy, not hooked up.
