Velodyne 1812

Has anyone ever worked with the Velodyne 1812? I haven't searched too hard, but I haven't seen a good review of this almost mythical creature. Has anyone ever taken the plunge on this baby? I'd love to see pics of how people have included it in their setup if available. What have you seen that is comparable or better?

This mythical creature is extremely overpriced and a waste IMO

You could do far better in the DIY arena...

Heck if your looking to spend that kind of money.... you may as well get a Gotham... or 2

I have had several demos of the 1812 and came very close to purchasing one (@60% off of MSLP) a few years ago.

At this point, it would be more of a novelty buy than any serious subwoofer purchase. There are too many better performing products @ a much lower cost than the $5-6K prices you see the 1812's advertised for on Audiogon.

Still, it is a very cool looking and great sounding sub and the build quality is the best I have ever seen (including the Gotham).
