Utilizing existing Speakers

Hello:
I have a room that was pre-wired for either stereo speakers or 4 surround speakers.

I opted to put in the two stereo speakers in the high ceiling and leave the other two connections 'capped'.

I am now thinking about putting in a very inexpensive surround sound system.

I am thinking I could just buy an inexpensive A/V receiver, two more 'stereo' speakers and a middle speaker.

Or would it be better to buy a complete 'setup' and install.

My question is will these current stereo speakers be sufficient for back speakers? They 8.5" 80Watt speakers. That is all the specs I have on them.

For the front speakers would the same be sufficient.

I guess my real question is, are the back and front speaks different than just regular stereo speaks?

thanks

I think we would really need to know what speakers you have now.

Also what are you trying to accomplish with this system. Full home theater? Background music? Multi-Channel Audio?

And when you state "stereo speakers" are you talking about in-ceilings with duel tweeters?

No where near enough information for a considered reply. But if it's cheap you want, that what you will get, anyway you slice the cake.
