Hi, I have a LG E9 TV and consider to buy a cheap AVR + Blueray Player + 5.1 speaker set second hand.
The whole set costs me only 120 Euro, and I intent to enter the world of surround sound with it.
The AVR is a HTR-2866, and the internet says thats identical to a Yamaha RX-V375.
The speaker of that LG E9 is a good soundbar, that sounds quite established to me.
(The E series of LG is their premium line that comes with decent speakers)
I like to use it as the center speaker for my setup.
The TV supports two modes, where it outputs its signal via the internal speakers and then additionally to a) 3.5mm jack or b) optical cable.
Its the same, full signal, as far as I can tell.
So I gathered, that if I set the TV to internal + optical, and send the optical information to the AVR, I can set that one to 5.1 and the following will happen:
1.) The TV speaker will not output a dedicated center signal, but it will be quite similar.
2.) The center signal of the AVR will get lost (I connect no speaker to it)
Is this correct?
I hope to circumvent wiring the soundbar, and the center speaker that is part of the set I am buying, is more than likely less audiophile than the 6 year younger soundbar, I guess.
Thats the set:
The NS-P20 offers a full 5.1-channel speaker system for little more than £100 and boasts a curvy gloss-black design, but at this price you have to make some sound quality sacrifices

I intent to replace all of it, as I already have 2 self build stereo speakers.
The subwoofer sounds useable.
