If I understand the manual of my RX-V657 it looks like we can wire both presence speakers and rear surrounds but on playback only one of the presence / rear surround can be used (due to the 7 channel/power limitation).
First, I'm assuming that YPAO will allow both sets to be used during the auto setup to measure the distance and assign levels.
What I need more information on, is how to configure the receiver for it to decide which channel to use. There's a Priority setting under the Speaker setup where you pick PR or SB.
My expectation are that :
If I play a disc that has the 6.1 or 7.1 input I would expect that the SB would be active and presence off.
For a 5.1 input signal with no Presence Sound Field I would expect that SB will be used (using DD EX decoder).
For 5.1 when using a DSP that creates a Presence Sound Field I would expect Presence to be used and the SB off.
Will all the above occur if I set the Priority to PR? I'm not certain what would happen if input is 6.1 and I have DSP with Presence Sound Field. If priority set to PR uses Presence during 6.1 playback with presence sound field, it looks like I may have to change the priority before playback.
