using older onkyo as a front or zone 2 amp

I"m really close to investing in a new reciever, probably the denon 3805. I have an older Onkyo av610 pro, which is capable of 125 watts per channel in stereo mode. Is it possible to preamp out of the Denon and use this as a zone two amp or maybe even power the front speakers with it?

Absolutely you could use the Onkyo to power Zone2. I wouldn't use the Onkyo to power the front speakers though, the Denon should be able to do that just fine.
