Using just R speaker output instead of both L+R

Say a guy had a single speaker in the bathroom (its small) and not a 2 channel L+R single stereo speaker. So I have a mixer that I will se to mix the L+R channels to a mono output on the mixer as it also has built in amp. So I will be using the small 30W amp thats built in to the mixer to run a small speaker in porch entrance kinda where there never needs to be much volume. Then gonna run pre out to matching 240W rms mono output amp I am going to use to run my backyard speakers where L and R dont matter as much. Then thinking of going out again with that mono signal into an older kenwood receiver i have (K-3500 ) or something like that, i havent pulled it out in a while. ANyways the L channel crackles on it sometime but the R channel always sounds great. So thinking running that mono signal into the R rca input for the aux input on the kenwood and turn the balance all the way to the R (dont know if it would matter but what the hell) and then use that right channel on the kenwood to run the bathrooms speaker and i would be getting mono signal. Could also add down te road a second speaker off that amp runningon the right channel of speakers B? If this would work and say the kenwood is rated at 35wx2.... if i was ust using the one right channel would i get 70 watts out of it or just 35?

Or is this all crazy stupid?

Thanks

Sound like a lot of work to me. I guess to each is own though..... Why not get one of the nicer Clock Radios that will allow you to play the radio, CD or Line In an IPOD or something. I would think you could pick up a refurb or a used one off of EBay for a reasonably cheap price.
