Hi,
Being a Techno-novice, can someone advise me on if it's possible to use my existing Sony surround sound speakers on a new DVD machine? If so, what am I looking for in this new machine? My old one needs a new laser and something else (expected cost £120) so was wondering whether I can just buy a new machine and plug the old stuff into it...
Any advice appreciated... Kirst

If the old one is an "all in one" receiver and DVD player then no you wouldn't be able to replace it easily. If the old one is just a DVD player and the receiver is separate, then you should be able to buy most any DVD player you choose.

Salvage the HTIB

Does your HTIB receiver/DVD player still play radio or CD sources properly? If so and if it has a digital optical or coax audio input, you should be able to use it as the "receiver" and connect any inexpensive DVD player to the digital audio input. This should get you buy for a while unitl you are ready for a speaker and receiver upgrade.
