Using different size subwoofers

I just purchased a klipsch r120sw for my system. I also have a energy 8 inch subwoofer. Would it be ok to run the smaller sub as well or should I spring for another 12" klipsch sub? The klipsch is way more powerful and deeper. Would this maybe hurt the dynamics?

Your hunch is correct. The 8” will basically be useless, and bold the other one back. FWIW, in the long run, you would be better served in selling the Klipsch and the energy and using more competent subwoofage. Didn’t notice any budget though.

Well, the sub was $500 but got it for $350. It does dig deep and pumps out the power. Getting another would only be about $700. Not to bad.

Well if you can get another one for 350, that wouldn’t be too bad. I would definitely move the the 8”er to the bedroom or desktop system or something like that. It definitely won’t help with the klipsch. Even if you ran them well below either of their limits, the port tunings will be very different and you’d have trouble integrating them in any capacity and could even make it worse. How big is the room?

The room is about 16' by 16'. I run a onkyo rz820 with 5.2.2 running. I'm running elac debut 2.0 front stage with height klipsch and rear side klipsh bipole. Sitting position is back wall .
