Using ceiling speakers for surround sound?

I am in the process of having a room wired for surround sound before the dry wall goes up. I have 2 front speakers, and 2 back speakers, and my original idea was to place 2 ceiling speakers in the vaulted ceiling just above the sofa. Now after read some information I’m not so sure, should I not place them in the ceiling, but instead place them in the side walls, so that the speakers would be facing each other in line with the sofa? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This may come a little late, if so I hope you decided to go with the side-wall installation as this is the preferred location for side surrounds. Although I have read of other configurations out the ordinary. You might check this one out!!
