Hey guys, I've been thinking about whether or not to get a ups for my receiver. I've already got the projector and HTPC on their own, but the receiver and sub amp don't have one.

Any reason to get one other than having the ability to power it off as opposed to just having the power cut from them?

There's no reason to have a receiver on a UPS. If the power cuts from the receiver nothing bad happens, unlike an HTPC and a PJ. You can if you want, but if you don't have one lying around it probably isn't worth spending money on.

Good to know. Thanks.

The only components that need UPS's are:
a] Units that have a processor or DSP chip that needs to re-boot after a power outage.
b] Units that need to thermal cycle after an outage (projectors)
c] Units that have power supplies that cause nasty noises after an outage (like some DBX units)
d] xxx?

I have a UPS for my HT and stuff because I would be very annoyed if I was to lose power while playing a video game.
