Upgrading Home theater Question

Hi. Brand new here and I have an upgrade question.

I plan on upgrading home theater setup.
Currently I have a Pioneer VSX-21TX (Kind of dated).
I'm going to be getting an F series Samsung LED and was looking at a new AVR. The new Pioneer VSX-1023-k looks good, but I can get the Elite SC-63 for $799.

I use the home theater setup for Bluray and game systems.

Is it better getting the Elite SC-63, VSX-1023, or wait for the new Elite series to come out.
It seems the more research I do, the more I am undecided.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Welcome to the forum, Matt!

What features are you looking to get that you don't currently have in your VSX-21TX?

Hi Adam, Thanks.

My current AVR has good sound, but it can't handle 3D and is lacking a lot of the features the newer units have. Mostly, I want an AVR that can take advantage features of the newer tv's and Blu-ray players. I also have an Iphone and like the idea of controlling the AVR with an app and sending music to it.

I have narrowed down the replacement to either a Denon or Pioneer. As far as the Pioneer, the Elite's seem to have a lot of power. They are hyping the class D amplification. Not being an expert, I don't know if that's a gimmick or something worthwhile. If not, the new vsx-1023 looks pretty good.

Basically, I am looking for a good all around receiver that will sound good ranging from the more subtle sounds all the way to loud movies with special effects.
The unit will be used by the whole family, so the kids use it for playing video games, and watching movies also.

$799 for the Elite SC-63 is a little higher than I wanted to go, but I will spend the money if it's worth it. I have an Elite now and love how it works. It can be played loud with no distortion, but it is getting obsolete.

Thanks Again
