I'm new to this hifi thing so any opinions or advice would be much appreciated.
I've just bought a
Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 speaker system together with a
Yamaha RX-V365 5.1 receiver to use with my PC. The total cost was just £400 and for this price they sound absolutely fantastic.
However, I do feel that the bass intergration could be slighty better when listening to music in stereo. I'm considering adding a pair of
Q Acoustics 1030i floorstanding speakers to use as the main front speakers with the 1010i speakers used for the side and rear surrounds. I think they should intergrate well because they're from the same speaker family and use identical tweeters.
I'll need to raise the height of the new 1030i floorstanders by 10cm so that the tweeters are at ear level when sitting at my PC. What would be the best way to do this? I'm considering getting a grave stone maker to cut some polished black granite to size and putting spikes on the bottom which should look nice and won't cost too much.
What's the best low cost 7.1 receiver to use? I like the look of the
Sony STR-DH800 reciever which I think should also be able to receive sound from my PC via a HDMI cable (I'm currently using analog 3.5mm jacks to phono sockets).
Would these be good upgrades?
