Upgrading eD A2-300, how much better is Epik Empire/VTF-15h

I have a A2-300 currently for sale and need to move up to a larger subwoofer due to a new house and larger room. I am currently leaning towards HSU or Epik. I am expecting the Epik legend to probably be more of a sidestep, but I am just not sure. How much better would it be upgrading to VTF-15h or Epik Empire(Lower End Extension, Output, Etc..)?

The VTF15h or Empire will be a pretty significant step up, in output more than anything, and probably in sound quality as well. You will definitely be getting a huge boost in output above 30 hz. Going from a A2-300 to a VTF15/Empire will be a very noticeable upgrade. I think the Legend would be a step up too, but not a big one, probably not enough to justify the expense.

Thanks so much. I am not in the new larger room yet, but.....thinking about about more output than a2-300 is scary :D.

Output is tricky.

Sub A can do 115db with 1% THD
Sub B can do 110db with 10% THD

Sub B will actually seem louder, even though it's not actually as loud.

That's because the cleaner you get, the less sensitive our ears are to these frequencies.

So even though the Epik Empire might get "louder", you may not even perceive it as being louder. Who knows.

I will say that whatever you do, the best upgrade you could get is multiple subs.

Well, I need to go bigger either way. I am going to have to get one for now.

That's actually not a bad idea. The A2-300 is a decent inexpensive sub and in a large room multiples sub are a good way to go.

I agree with the above as well. Multiples would be the better route and get you a more even response.

What are you using to eq the subs ?

That's what I use and it does a nice job.
The main drawback is that multEQ will also do its work on your mains, which may or may not be a bad thing. A dedicated external subEQ, like the SVS unit, is probably a better idea.
