I have an old Sony 200w sub circa 1998 and I'm about to pull the triger on an Outlaw LFM1 compact for a replacement. Their sale pice is hard to resist. How much of an upgrade should I notice. The sony isn't terrible but its a bit muddy and not very suited for music. Also I haven't had any experience with downfiring subs. It will be nice that my cat can't destroy the grill. What are the advantages/disadvantages?

The difference is going to be so different that you are going to hit yourself in the nuts for waiting so long to upgrade.

P.S. I am not kidding.

stating the obvious

My new Outlaw LFM1c is here and quite an improvement. As I stated before, it replaced a 10 year old Sony. With the Sony, if you walked into the room blindfolded, you would probably guess my mains were a pair of decent bookshelves and some sub off to the left. The Outlaw integrates seemlessly to were it makes my Studio L830s sound like they just received a new set of balls.
