Upgrade Time or No?

So I'll make it quick and easy. Here's what I have currently...

Energy C-500's
Energy C-C100
Energy C-100's
PA-120 sub
Yamaha 663

Ive been offered on my 5.0 and another guy willing to buy my PA-120. Out of that money, PLUS another $100-$150 or so I would get some mains. Really have my eye's on the E55ti's from EMP, but can't decide if I should go that route or bookshelves w/ sub. Eventually I'll do a 5.1, but I just moved into a house and have tons of others things to buy also....like an engagement ring soon  lol. SOO...would you upgrade from this 5.1 to some $800 mains or do you think it's not worth it?

I'd probably just stand pat with your current system, assuming of course that you enjoy it. Engagement rings and furnishings for a home tend to be just a tad more important (to me at least) than upgrading an already decent 5.1 system ;)

PS: I assume you've heard and were greatly impressed by the EMPs?

I have not heard the EMP's yet. Just figured they'd be an upgrade. A few have told me to just hold out for a little longer and pick up something that's a little bit more of an upgrade instead of a small sidestep.

Good advice in my book. I have nothing against EMP, but if I were in your shoes (and to an extent I am), I'd be saving my pennies for something that would make happy a decade or two without worrying about how good the review of the new kid on the block happens to be.

That's a tough one, will you always be able to sell your system? {of course everything is sell-able, but not usually right in you back yard}?

I am not an EMP fan and Im not a fan of the Energy line, sooooo...

If I had 800 to spend on a front 3 here is what I would grab...

Wharfedale Diamond 10 2 Rosewood PR Bookshelf Speakers 703340284320 | eBay
Wharfedale Diamond 10 CS Rosewood ea Open Box Center Channel Speaker 703340287925 | eBay

Or for a little more you can get these towers with that center, this is a good discount...
Wharfedale Diamond 10 5 Rosewood ea Open Box 3 Way Floorstanding Speaker 703340285648 | eBay

I love the diamond 10's I think they are one of the best deals rite now. $720 for a pr, they are normally $1000

I spent some time listening to e55tir I believe... They seem to need some crossover work in the mid / sub area... I could hear the port and didn't enjoy the bass at all. The cabinet is top notch and the highs are decent. But the mids and lows didn't appeal to me... Although tilting the speaker upward a little helped, I just wouldn't buy them, IMO the ascend 340s sound much better at almost half the price and size... If you cross them at 80-110 they sound better but to me there are better choices for less money or much better for a little more....

This is only my opinion and by no means professional. If someone owns them and loves them that is all that matters, maybe they won't like how the ascends sound or they may not like the wharfedale lines like I do, it's all up to the person that has to listen to them... That's why auditioning is great....
