Update to Samsung or Vizio thread

Finally picked up the Samsung 75" at Sams over the weekend. I really sat for awhile considering the Shart 80" Aquos, but the Samsung just looked better with the near borderless bezel. Also, I had been checking every couple of days for the price to drop back down again and sure enough on Friday it did: $1,998. It's been there before, but I always missed it and it would jump back up to $2,498 or something close to that.

Just out of principle I wasn't going to pay $500 more for a TV I know was selling for $2K. So anyway... I got lucky as it barely fits on my BDI cabinet. It'll be going up on the wall in the next couple of days which will be nice because I'll be able to move my giant center out of the too small section of the cabinet it's in which will dramatically improve the sound. Also, they'll be room for a new record player (still figuring out which one). I'm a little concerned that the TV will sit a bit high on the wall, but I'm considering putting new shorter feet on the cabinet to drop it down an inch. I'll figure that one out as I go along.

Picture-wise it's pretty amazing. I guess it sort of like brakes going bad on your car... you don't realize they're bad until you get new ones. The picture quality on the DLP was so bad especially with dark scenes... the blocking looked like a low quality youtube video. It was most because of the cable we have (which we're now converting to Brighthouse in our neighborhood) but I still think the DLP was just having trouple resolving the picture because even on standard channels, the picture is dramatically better with the Samsung... HD is stunning now... Blu-Ray is immaculate.

Out of the box... the picture was pretty bad. The "soap opera" affect was really horrible. I was watching Riddick on HBO and it literally looked like an animation. Googled some settings and things looked 100 times better after just a few changes.

So if you're looking for something bigger than a 70"... at $2K this Samsung is pretty hard to beat I think. I'll post up some pics and other thoughts once it get's mounted up.

They're coming to mount my TV Thursday and run the cables... my plan is to put my Def Tech center on the BDI cabinet... but now I'm a bit concerned that the TV may be a bit high. I'm about 13 feet away, so how high can it be mounted? The BDI cabitnet is about 22-23" I think high... the Def Tech center is about 6 or 7 inches high.... so that puts the bottom edge of the TV at about 32" giving a bit of room and the top of the TV at 38" above that or at about 6' ... does that seem okay? It'll be about 5 inches or so higher than it is now given no stand and a bit of a gap between the height of the center and the bottom of the TV.

I'm wondering if I should take the rails off the bottom of the BDI cabinet and just get some shorter feet for it to drop it an inch or so.

Thanks. Any thoughts on the height of mounting the tv. The bottom of the screen measured to be at about 31" and the top about 69 or 70". The mount I got does have 10 degrees of tilt. I just need some opinions on that setup. I'm still thinking of getting different feet for the cabinet since the rails on it are 5". I could take those off and drop it an inch with different ones but I'm not sure that would even matter at all except maybe give a little more space between the center and the bottom edge.
