Sorry I meant UP SCALING! Please be gentle explaining it. I am debating between the Denon AVR-2807 or the Yamaha RX V2600. Both do up scaling, and with the rate things change and old equipment gets out dated, I don't want to go without something I should've bought in the first place. Ok run on sentence, I know; but you get what I mean right? I was looking into the Yamaha RX V1600, but no up scaling. So someone please explain; what will up scaling do for my video quality? I currently have an older model Sony wega 50" that doesn't do up scaling (what ever that is..lol) or at least I don't think it does. So if I was to take all my video output components (HD box, DVD, and yes even a VCR) run whatever cable into the receiver, it will then up convert to HDMI. That I understand, but what the H#*L is up scaling to 720/1080?
So to elaborate on that last statement. Should I still run the highest quality video source out from each component i.e. component video from DVD, RF from VCR? Or will it not matter what source is leaving that said unit, like could I still get the same result if I were to run S-video from DVD, of course that couldn't be true for the HD box because how could I get my 1080 picture through that cable. Or could I, see I haven't a clue so please, again, fill me in!
