I got a new LG 37" LCD HDTY (1080i & 720p). I also got a $100 Toshiba DVD recorder/upconverter 1080p player.
I put in Casino Royale in my regular DVD player and watched a certain scene. I then did the same with new upconverter player, went to same scene and saw no difference. When I put the disc in my upconverter, it said 1080i. When I put dvd in my PS3 I see the picture improve alot.

How come I don't see a difference on my Toshiba?

Because your PS3 is really 1080 and the DVD player is 480. Why would you buy a DVD player hen you have the best one on the market (PS3)?

PS3=$399 or 499. Toshiba recorder/player=$100. I think you can see the answer. To get a better upconverting player, buy one of the HD Toshibas or get an Oppo. Just for giggles, try setting the Toshiba to output 720p, which is your tv's native res. Also, are you using the same connectors, ie HDMI for both or component for both, etc?
