Ok guys help me out here. I am trying to remember a movie that I saw when I was about 10 or so and I can not for the life of me remember the name of it or any of the actors that were in it. Here is what I do remember.

The story was about a teenage girl and her father who lived on or worked on a boat. At some point they take on a younger guy to help out and the girl eventually falls in love with him. They also go on some sort of adventure or the get lost at sea or something. I also believe that it was made in the 60's but I am not sure.

I first thought it was a Hailey Mills movie but it is not. This has been driving me nuts for a while.

At first I'd have said Blue lagoon. But I don't think the film is that old and if you're having problems remembering Brooke Shields.....

No, no this was a much better film than that. A comedy romance adventure I think. The actress was famous too. It could have maybe even been a late 50's movie I am not sure. I saw it on TV when I was in 6th grade and have never seen it since.

The original 1960's Flipper movie? Blond kid, I think his name might be Luke Halpin.

Nope, the focus was definitely about the Girl and her father and her falling in love with the boy during the course of the boat adventure.

I wasn't allowed to see movies like that when I was little. :)

A little more specificity might help. !960, or 61? And more certainty about the adventure and the father/daughter role. Picnic comes to mind...but there's no boat...they weren't teenagers...and there was no father.

I'm not helping at all, am I?

Yeah, but, you sure Picnic won't do? I haven't seen it in a couple of years. William Holden & Kim Novak. Wheww. That's the main reason I like Hitchcock movies so much. Kim Novak. Yeah.

No not the same kind of movie, if I can remember correct the father was sort of a crusty old sailor type and the girl was sort of tomboyish, at some point in the movie she becomes more lady like. Most of the movie I believe took place on the boat.

Are you sure it didn't have Hayley Mills in it?

The Truth About Spring - Tommy Tyler a lazy Caribbean sailor and his tom-boy daughter, Spring are out to search for a buried treasure. Tommy brings aboard William Ashton, a young lawyer to help with the search. Ashton turns out to be handy when they encounter dangerous rivals. Tommy also tries to play match maker between Ashton and Spring-a difficult task indeed.
