Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a universal remote from the RTI Corp. Does anyone know much about their T4 remote? This seams to be the one I'm considering, but I wonder if it's worth the money? And how reliable can I expect it to be? Any thoughts out there?

Thats a pretty expensive remote.... You might be served really well with the extreme flexibility of the Pronto - TSU 9600, for far less money...

Is this to be a DIY type scenario, or a custom company to do for you.....

But none the less... you will find far more support on a dedicated Remote Forum like Remotecentral.com
http://www.remotecentral.com

Do check out the Pronto... its amazing for the price... :) I found the Pronto Very easy to learn, and the forum will help you greatly if you wanted to DIY, as the Software is free.

Even the owner of that site runs the Pronto....

I would imagine there are plenty of people that would program it for you for the price of the remote and programming for far less then what they want for the RTI

No i'm not doing it myself. I'v invested in some electrostatics from the company Final, also a Parasound Halo amp and a complementry DVD player to go with it all, and then thought what am I do do with all these remotes? They are the ones who suggested this remote. But am wondering if its worth it?

BTW, Welcome to Audioholics...

You could easily find someone to program the Pronto for cheap..

Its truly a fantastic looking and extremely competent remote... I'm not a big fan of Philips by any stretch of the means here, but they have captured the audience of everyone with how flexible this remote is...

Check out what some of the people have done with this on their own, over here... http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/rcfiles.cgi?area=professional&db=systems&br=all

It will run full graphics and everything... anything you can do with the RTI for far cheaper... and by the way, My new years part hosted some events with my Pronto like it getting tossed up in the air, and slamming down on the hard wood floor, not once, but twice... grrrr but not a scratch nor any malfunction... I'm buying a second one for my bedroom....
