Ok right now my sig isn't entirely accurate because I'm actually still waiting for the nad rcvr. So for now the store is loaning me their arcam avr-280 until mine arrives. Everything is all sound pressure calibrated, and tweaked accordingly to my taste.

The sub just doesn't get used at all that much. I know it works because when I take off the cover I can see it moving. Now its not like I don't have bass, its just that pretty much all of it is coming from the studio 60's. I'm guessing its the rcvr or something.

My last setup used the same sub and I can tell a difference in the use of bass compared to my new system.

What do you guys think? You think its the rcvr?

I'm planning on upgrading the sub to a velodyne optimum series within the next few months anyway.

It is how you have your receiver set up. Where is your crossover point, do you have other speakers set to small or large, do you have the sub and receiver crossovers both in circuit, and do you know how to adjust the sub volume and LFE receiver output?

The other issue is that bass should not dominate everything and most subs are set too loud.

All speakers are set to small. Crossover point on the arcam menu is set to 80hz, and on the sub itself is set to about 80hz.

I know you don't want to have the sub set too loud, but its the fact that my sub isn't getting used at all. The only time I hear it working is when I go to the "level set" menu on my rcvr where you can adjust the db. When I play a videogame all the bass comes from the 60's.

There is your problem! You have cascaded two crossovers. Switch out the sub crossover and set it direct, then set the desired sub level.

Switch the sub crossover to what? Direct?
There should be a setting on your sub that bypasses the crossover.

That sub does not have a crossover bypass, unless you have it modified internally.

You have two options.

1). Set the sub crossover to 200 Hz.

2). Set your mains to large, and set the crossover on your receiver to the F3 of your mains X 2.

The only thing I have is a volume control knob, phase switch 0 or 180, and a low pass frequency knob. no bypass.

Make sure you come back when it's time for you to get a better sub. Sounds to me like you might could use some guidance. Paradigm 60s go deep enough for music probably. So I suggest you look at the home theater variety of subs. Velodyne tends to be more musically inclined.
