hey all,

i am new to the forum and have been trying to find any threads/posts abt setting up a good home audio system with a $2000 budget. i have been doing quite a bit of browsing lately to gather info on various systems out there, but i have only ended up being more confused. i'd really appreciate it if someone could point me to a good source for getting this info, or post a reply with such info(which would be awesome!).

There are too many variables and preferences for anyone to really make a $2000 recommendation without you talking about what all you're going to use the system for and whatnot.

Some Questions:

How big is your room?
What will this be used for? Stereo Music? Surround Music? Movies? Everything?
Are there any requirements for appearance and size?
Do you need a TV or display too?
What components do you already have?
Have you found anything yet that you like?

Oh, and here's a piece of advice: say "NO!" to Bose. Just say no.

The room is 20X15 feet.
I intend to use it 80% for music and 20% for movies etc. No requirements as for appearance and size, yet! I am planning the TV sometime later, so this budget is mainly for speakers and receiver(or amp and pre-amp, if thats better).

And from whatever I have learnt by following posts here, I am sure I am not going to get Bose!!
