Guys,

I need your help deciding on one of this two receivers. Pricewise this is what I've been quoted, 885.00 for the Yamaha and 800.00 for the Denon. Please help me decide on one of the two. I will be using the HDMI output to my HDTV.

Thank you for your comments.

Good prices

Those sound like really good prices. Are they from authorized dealers? If not, you will not have a valid warranty. You can't loose with eather receiver, especially at those prices.

I prefer Yamaha although I do use a Denon myself. From what I've read...they're a bit more reliable.

I like the Yamaha. But both really are very good units. You can't go wrong with either.

I'd take the 2600. The comparable Denon IMO is the 3806. The Yamaha 1600 is more similar to the Denon 2807.

You may want to consider waiting for HDMI 1.3, or if you can't wait, you can pick up a Yamaha 2500 at Ubid for $499 and run your 1080i HD through component video.

So out of curiosity where did you find an authorized dealer willing to give you those prices. I would like to know because I am in the market for similar gear.

Thanks

I don't know why any one would lay out cash on ANY of the new HDMI recievers. If you NEED a reciever NOW you should buy last years model have all of the same features except the worthless HDMI switching. Next years models may have more reliable HDMI but the way things have been I'm not optimistic.

To the original poster. Search for HDMI repeater problems and it will all become crystal clear.

Id go the yammy. As mentioned before the yamaha is a comparative model above the denon AVR-2807. Although i am a fan of Denon and not so much Yamaha.
