Unable to achive Sampling rate of 96kHz

Hi I have a Samsung BD-1600 blue ray player set to output signals in bitstream thur a HDMI cable to my receiver (Yamaha RX-V863) when I check the signal
info on my receiver I can not seem to get a sampling rate of 96kHz I only get 48kHz. I've checked the settings and have the downmixing option shut off on the Blue ray.


I'm Stumped, I'm starting to think it might be the Samsung?

How do you know the source is in 96kHz? I doubt movies are. 48k is plenty to hear.

HD discs can be produced at sampling rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz. I suspect most discs are made at 44.1 or 48, there is no point in going higher. Good research shows there is no advantage.

It's the disc..... You need the source that advertises 96khz. Most BD's are 48khz.
