Hey! im a beginner to the forums and wanted to gain some knowledge before I make a purchase in the coming weeks. Hopefully some of you guys can help!

A little while ago I went shopping for a whole new system as a reward for myself from graduating from college. With the help of my nearby audio store (not best buy or anything like that but a professional store) I auditioned a bunch of speakers in my price range along with receiver and etc.. fast forward to today my 2.0 system includes the following:

Sonus Faber Venere 3.0
Cambridge Audio Dac Magic Plus
Cambridge audio Azur 840A
Kimble Kable Hero Wire

I know it might not be the best system, but I love it, and its much better than any all in one system or computer speakers ive used previously.

Now to the point:
Im looking for a sub around 1,000 Us dollars that would give me that extra sound im missing while listening to music.

ive come down to ULS 15 subwoofer vs SVS pb12-plus sub, but all other suggestions are wellcome.

My room is about 24 feet long by 14 feet wide (10 feet high).

what are the differences with the subs, what would be the best choices in my price range and what would fit best with the type of system i have currently?

The PB12 Plus will get a bit louder and dig deeper. The distortion profile of either sub is going to be very good. The ULS might have a slight advantage with respect to overhang and group delay given its sealed design. Either would be good, but neither will be great because you don't have any bass management methods that I see.

As much as I love HSU and SVS subs, I like Rythmik in the $1k range.

Could anyone elaborate on the pros and cons of Rythmik subs? in comparison to SVS and HSU?

Info on the pros/cons of each manufacturer abounds, so if you use the Search function you'll probably come up with hours of good material to read.

One thing that immediately popped out at me regarding your configuration was Kimble Kable Hero Wire. Be careful of spending huge amounts of money on wires. While you never want to use the cheapest/thinnest stuff you can get, esoteric cables with dubious claims are really not worth the money. Kimber (not Kimble BTW) Kable is a prime example of that, and are often used as the 'poster child' for exorbitant prices. I doubt you'll find the product is worth the price.

I went through a similar process when trying to select a sub. I am focused on music much more than movies. Based on the reviews and some recommendations, I decided to go with two subs although I have only purchased one. The other will come in a few weeks. There where three combos I liked. HSU ULS-15s, SVS SB12-NSDs and Power Sound Audio XS-15s. I think I would be happy with any of these options. I decided on the Power Sound Audio XS-15s. After reading the reviews on the XS-15 ($750.00ea with a discount for 2). I felt it would blend better for my music needs. I'm going to post my detailed review (fwiw) once I have it tuned in a little better.
My first impression of a single XS-15 after 10 hours of light use:
1. VERY well built.
2. Easy to connect and set up.
3. Music sounds amazing and will only get better with tuning and placement (and the second sub).
4. Movies (Pacific Rim) sound great. I'm sure there are better subs for movies but this sub rumbled when it needed too.
5. I have to turn up the gain more than I would like but I think that will change with tuning and placement.
6. I'm not sure I even need the second sub because this sub fills the room really well. OK I still want the second sub. :p

My room is only 1600 sq ft so your needs to fill that room may be different But I think a two sub setup would fill your room with out any problems.

I hope this helps!

I appreciate your feedback. I learned this only after i made my purchase. Seeing how i bought a bundle deal from my nearby audiophile store, they wanted to make some money and threw in the kimber kable and said it would sound "best" of course it was like $300 bucks or so. No biggie, I just wont make the same mistake next time!

I was thinking of two subs as well, but I always had the impression one really good item is better than two medium/ok items. But let me know how it goes, ill be waiting to hear the review, thanks for posting!
