Can't see the pics, Mike.

I'd enjoy having a couple of Koi and a nice pond. But dang, Koi are good eatin' around here to our huge raccoon population. A neighbor lost a coupld of grand worth last year. All that was left was a couple of dorsal fins!

Wow.

Why would anyone ever spend money on fish, other than to eat them.

A person I know had a beautiful natural coral rock pond in her back yard filled with koi, she ended putting netting over it to keep the herons from eating the fish, she too lost quite a wad of cash to the herons, but God help you if you "molest" a heron, they'd lock you up in no time.

Down here where I live, seafood is cheap and plenty, when you get away from the touristy areas. I can get lobster (during season, not frozen from Central America) for under 9.00 per pound, you just have know where to look.

Might I say I hate you...I would probably eat seafood everyday if I could do that.

I don't know, according to research (boy haven't you heard this one before;)) certain seafood is loaded with cholesterol. I, on the other hand love lobster and dolphin (yes we natives don't call it mahi-mahi, we're not from Hawaii or California, we do call it Dorado sometimes) two of my favorite seafoods along with yellowtail snapper.

Seafood tastes too good to care if it is bad for you, besides people eat fast food daily, I will eat something that tastes good instead :D. My vote would have to go with tuna (not the **** that comes in a can), crab and scallops and koi make a good meal too, but only when I go fishing in Mike's pond.

We use to fish Yellowfin off Bimini years ago, bleed it, fillet it, pack it in ice for about an hour and eat it sashimi style with ponzu and wasabi. Now that's fresh sushi.

HA! I'll have to get you and avaserfi out here. We'll catch some Spring Chinook or early Summer Steelhead out of the river down the street, clean it, steak it out, start smoking some, and have a bbq that'll knock those tuna taste buds right outta your mouths. ;)

Then we can go over to look at the neighbor's dry koi pond. :(

My dad has a great smoked salmon recipe too :) we made some last time I went home. It was great we made acoustic panels and smoked salmon and trout...can't beat that. Next time I visit my sister I'll have to hunt you down Tomorrow.

sorry for the pics guys ... why didn't you guys tell me that you didn't see the koi pics in my other rant thread? if you saw those, you'd understand why they are 4-5 digits in value.

these however are the "pond quality" type.

anyway, here are the ones I bought:

I kept thinking that I didn't see the point of the Koi, but with a pond like that it would be worth it. What a great place to sit back and read. Can't wait to see the finished pics.
