Interesting concept. A dictator in a mythical Middle Eastern country has two sons. One spent the better part of his life in the US becoming a doctor, marrying an American woman and now has two teenage/ akmost adult kids, a boy and a girl. Basically, he's an American of Middle Eastern decent.
The other son stayed in said country and was groomed by daddy dearest to take over when he gets his 72 virgins. This son is a bit of a sadistic, mysogynistic plick.
Daddy dies and the American son comes home for the funeral and one thing leads to another. He gets tangled up in the political intrigues that are going on and decides to stick around to try to make it a better place.
There's an variety of interesting characters here. Their personalities are still evolving but it's building a fine, multi-faceted story line with an almost tangible texture. Each week builds on previous events and, I gotta say, we're hooked.
The characters are well cast, none of which I've ever heard of. The sets and costuming look really good but not having been there, I'm just going on what I, as an outsider, would expect.
It's eposodic so it should be watched in order. This is a fairly new series (they just aired the 4th episode) so if you're interested, you should be able to catch up fairly quickly via on demand (or whatever your cable provider calls it) if you choose.
