i'm looking to upgrade my klipsch rf-7 fronts, and eventually upgrade all of my speakers. i have read very favorable reviews about tyler accoustics in owensboro, ky., and am looking to drive down for a listen myself. primarily interested in the linbrook signature towers. has anyone actually heard any of the tyler accoustics line and if so what did they think. my components are avm 30 pre-pro, krell kav-2250 amp for fronts, denon 2910 for SACD, cary cinema 6 for redbook cd & dvd. from listening to other speakers recently, i'm looking for a better soundstage & imaging, but without giving up the ability to rock the world w/o a sub for now, as that will be the last addition after upgrading to a plasma tv. i don't exactly lack in the bass dept. now, although i understand that adding a sub will open up a whole new bass dimension. have also listened to the new paradigm flagship tower, and recently heard some fantastic little bach small towers from vienna accoustics, but i want a full size tower for my fronts and the magnolia in indy only carries vienna up to the next size up, the mozart grand. any thoughts appreciated.

Yes I live less than 30 miles from Tyler Acoustics and I got to meet Ty himself. He is a very nice guy. I am NOT a big fan of tower speakers so I auditioned his Freedom F-2"s, Taylo Reference Monitors, and the Linbrook Signature Monitors. All were very good indeed. The F-2's low end was soft and well extended and the tweeter was so nice and balanced. However, it was lacking in the midrange area a bit and I prefer a much more articulate punchy sounding low end. The Taylo Reference Monitors were very impressive--much more controlled and articulate sounding to me. The tweeter was very open and airy with great imaging capabilities. Now the Linbrook Sigs are the best no wait THE absolute best speakers I have heard to date period. They just do everything right. No sub required imho. Ty knows how to build speakers and his cabinetry skills are second to none. In other words, Ty is the real deal--not to mention a true gentleman. Hope this helps. Good luck with your decision.

thanks so much for the info, particularly that the linbrook signatures can exist w/o a sub, as i don't have one & it's at the end of my shopping list. everything i have read about tyler accoustics has been great, but nice to hear it from a fellow audioholic. i need to get down to ky & listen. thanks again

Keep in mind that the Linbrook Sigs are $2800 a set. I just wanted to point out I have yet to hear any speaker perform better. The Taylo Reference Monitors for many would not need a sub. However, you may opt to to obtain one for the LFE when watching dvds. My preference has been and always will be on 2-channel music listening and not multichannel. However, I do like excellent LFE when I view a dvd---therefore, at least for me, a sub is necessary. The instruments/voices are so natural sounding that you will swear the performer(s) are right there in front of you. Talking about speakers disappearing. Anyways, good luck in your decision. I will probably go talk to Ty again the next time I am in Owensboro.
