tx-ds989 HELP!

Hi all, Trying to set up my 989 to my samsung blu ray player via digital audio. I believe the best sound I can achive is 5.1? Also, the left front channel will not produce any sound, swapped speakers, their not the problem. Tightened down the speaker wire terminals real tight, finally got sound out of all channels for about 5 minutes then lost left channel again. Is this a terminal problem or a channel problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to say. Could be anywhere in the chain. If you still have the DB-25 to RCA 6-ch cable that came with the Onkyo and the Sammy has multi-channel outputs, you could use those connections to see if it's an issue with the digital to DAC section of the chain. You could also run the test tone on the left channel to see if it's in the amp to terminal section.
