Two Sets of Speakers Setup

By which I mean two pairs of speakers:D

I seem to have ended up with two pairs of speakers, both of which I like very much. They have very different sounds to them, but I find I enjoy my music though both, and enjoy the differences. They are a set of Theil CS2.2's which are 'phase coherent' speakers with metal dome tweeters, and a set of Cambridge Soundworks Towers, the original Kloss design, which are bi-polar with fabric tweeters shooting both front and rear. Both are three way systems.

I would like to have the option of playing either set and was thinking about setting them up side by side in my listening room so I just have to swap the cables at the amp. I might mention that they're heavy suckers, so swapping them out wouldn't be easy.

Has anyone tried this? Any issues that might come up?

Thanks :)

Go for it. As long as you have the room for it and they both make you happy sounds like a great plan to me.

Thanks for the encouragment,

What I'm asking if anyone has any tips such that each speaker when playing would sound as good as if it were in the room by itself. I will experiment around, but if anyone has done this, I'd sure appreciate hearing about their experience.

Not n unrealistic request. I've done this myself and it works great.

Does your amp/receiver have A/B switches? If not, then purchasing one would greatly faciitate switching between them.

Just be sure that combined, in parallel, they don't drop to a load lower than ypur amp can handle.

Ooop.... I was unclear. I wish to listen to them one pair at a time, not all four together.

The answer to the other question is no, and I wish to keep the amp I've got. While both speakers connect on the bottom which is a hassle, swapping one cable for the other at the amp isn't a big problem.

Speaker A/B switch

You could easily take the speaker level output from the amp and connect it to a speaker A/B switch. They even have versions that you can mount on the wall with a decora type cover plate. You will need two sets of speaker cables running from the switch to each set of speakers.
