Two displays one connection

Not sure if this is the right area but I am setting up a system with a projector in one room and a lcd tv in the other. Directv is the system. Will two boxes be needed to watch one program on one and another program on the other? I know they have two tuners but there are already HDMI cables run and not sure how this would work in practice. The old day TV's where you ran the coax to one and the coax to the other would work but did not know if it will work with HDMI since there is only one HDMI cable coming out of the Directv box. Additionally, I suppose and HDMI switcher would work but did not know if they make one in and two out switchers?

To watch separate programs on both the TV and projector at the same time you will need two receivers. AFAIK if you want HD on both then they both need HD receivers. You can feed the output of one receiver to two displays, however they can only watch the same thing at the same time.
