The tweeter in my Swan 6.1 speaker went out. I found a replacement online that I could buy but replacing the tweeter is something I could not do. Is there anyone here I could pay to do it for me? I'm in the Murrieta/Temecula area and could come to you.
Thanks,
Steve

I bet you can do it.

I would bet that if you remove the midrange driver, you will find a threaded tube anchoring the tweeter with the leads going though it, and held on by a nut and washer.

Disconnect the tweeter from the crossover. Undo the retaining nut and remove the tweeter and replace.

I highly doubt there is anything complicated about this.

Thanks for posting this. I tried. I removed the driver. I took the four screws out and that sucker was sealed tight on there still. I finally got it to come come out. I do see the lead wires going up through a hole in the top of the speaker. No nut/washer there though. The tweeter must be held on somehow at the tweeter dome itself. I simply can't figure out how. It has a flush, tight fit all the way around it and I don't see any way to get access to it.

What does the replacement tweeter look like? Can you provide pictures of it?

This is the HiVi TN28 tweeter, which seems to have a reputation of being junk.

This is the mechanical drawing.

There are two threaded holes for bolts in front and behind the lead in wires.

You can see the replacement tweeter here:
https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/soft-dome-tweeters-hivi/hi-vi-tn28-top-mount-1-fabric-dome-tweeter/
I can't get to the tweeter though as there's this cover in the way. You can see the cover in the first pic you posted.
I have found out it is a dovetail shoe mounting. Only the base screws.

Disconnect the wires from the crossover. See if you can insert a thin blade between the tweeter and the base and slide it forward.

If all else fails that tweeter is no good. I would give it a good clout on the rear with a heavy soft hammer. This should move it forward.

You can then slide in the new tweeter. Be careful not to crimp the wires though.

If you do end up damaging the base, then you can mount the new one from the top with long bolts and place washers and buts inside the cabinet.

They must have mounted the base and then glued on the top, to make things difficult.

You are going to have to use some brute force most likely, as apparently these units really bind in the dovetail shoe of the base.

Steve, all tweeters are not the same and the crossover network was designed for a specific tweeter, not a generic replacement tweeter. So the speaker's sound will be different in some unpredictable way. It would be better to get replacement tweeters from the manufacturer if that is possible.

He does have the correct tweeter. He bought it on eBay. These tweeters are NLA as they are discontinued by HiVi.
