I have a question for anyone that can help me I have an opportunity to buy and brand new in box Mitsubishi WD-73733 73" 1080p DLP HDTV for a very cheap price. I know the TV is around 4 years old or so but its brand new and in box. Question is is the TV worth buying at all or just pass up the deal and keep what I have now. I have a Samsung 46" LCD TV with 1080p 120 htz the touch of color one made around 08' I believe. I pretty much watch movies and play games. The TV will be my main TV for theater watching. I just need some help with this as I have no clue at all. The TV reviews are great but I'm just not sure if buying a older TV like that is worth it compared to the newer ones.

How cheap are you talking? If the tv and bulb are in new condition and you don't need 3d or whatever, I'm sure it'll work out just fine for you.

The price that was asked was 1200 but im offering 900. The TV is in brand new as you were to buy it from Best Buy or some place else. Back story on the TV. My dad is in sales and he has a promotional book that is offered to his employees and they can buy anything from the book, happens to be that the warehouse where the TV is at is closing and they are trying to get rid of everything in there. Since he is high up in his complany he has a chance to get the TV along with many other things such as Movado watch that re brand new in box for between 75-150 when retail is round 500 for the watches. Sorry to get off the tangent NO I dont care bout 3D as I donot beleve in that technology at this poin in time. I will only have a 3D TV when you dont have to wear glasses. Im just wondering if its worth the money for an old product and if ill be happy with it compared to my Samsung TV. Just skeptical bout it since there not in stores and all I can do is go off readers posts thats it.

My biggest concern would be availability of replacement bulbs because DLPs require bulb replacements every few years.

If the TV uses a proprietary bulb that is only made by Mitsubishi but that model is end of life and won't be produced anymore then they may not produce the bulb replacements either.

I've researched the bulb replacement and there are several places where I can get new one if it comes to that. I'm not planning on having the tv forever tho due to new technologies. I was just interested in it cause of the price and quality that DLP is known for along with being able to get a bigger tv for same quality as my Samsung has. I just don't want to waste the money if the the value isnt there that's all knowing it an older tv, but if the value it there and a good deal I'm going to try and get it. That's why I'm asking everyone on here for good input so that I can make a good descision about it.

While it is a great TV. I'd not spend 900 dollars on a four year old set.

i agree. $900 for that is not a "very cheap price".
a very cheap price would be about $400.

The hours on the TV would be zero do to the fact that the TV is still new in box. See post #3 I explain the deal on the TV. I really dont need a new TV at all I was just going to bite at this one cause of price. What I would like to have is a projector but since I live in a apartment I dont think that will be possible at all. Im just not sure if I even need to try to get this or just past it up for now.

Qusetion on what a goods a good price then for a new TV/projector that will be great and still be an upgrade to what I have and also give me everything that I want? I also have to state that I live in an apartment so I would need something that I can get for that purpose and also when Im able to move into my house in a year.

Here is a link to the exact TV that I have. If Im to buy a new TV I would have to have one that would be a 100% better than the one I have now. When I mean better I mean vewing size, pic quality and price. I dont want to spend a ton of money on new TV but would like to have one if possible. I would also like to have a projector if I could vs a big TV. I love the TV that I have now but the only real reason I looked into the Mitch was cause I thought it was a good deal now that I know its not then I can look at something else or just keep what I have.

Next question I have then is DLP any good or should I look at something else when looking for a TV and if Im looking for a projector what should I look in that also.

DLP tvs are great. Mitsubishi is the only player left in that game right now, unfortunately. It's still the most reasonable way to get a large picture without going to a projector and screen setup.

All of those tvs will dwarf your current samsung - with the smallest of the four I linked, you'll have 170% of the samsung's viewing area. Picture quality should be just as good if not better, imo. The price is fantastic when you compare it to the costs of large lcds or plasmas.

what you want, the usage, and the room are the difference.

keep your sammy. and drop a screen down over it for movies.

Well I pulled the trigger found a great deal on brand new Mitsubishi wd-65638 with 4 yr warranty for 1200. I put it up yesterday and I would have to say it looks great def the same if not better than the sammy. Now the only think I need is a good link where to calibrate the tv so that I can get the best pic from it. I def think the DLP was the way to go as of now. Do u think it would work to put the center channel on top of tv with one of those stands or just put under tv? The speaker in talking about is the def tech clr2000. I know its a heavey speaker so not sure if the stand will work or not. So for I'm really excited bout the tv next item is an up grade for a reciever that will also include 3d if I ever use the 3d. Thanks to all I would have not been happier if it wernt for u guys with the info and help.
