TV yearly price cycle

Do any of you know how the yearly TV price cycle works?

What I mean is like cars, say for example around the september timeframe of 2007, the 2008 models come out, meaning that you can get 2007 for a lot cheaper if you negotiate since most dealers need to make room for new ones.

Now with TV's how does this "yearly" cycle works? I know black friday is probably the best "single day" for a buy, although I have also heard that after the super bowl prices drop and new models are put in. What about Christmas, and other months? And I know you can always find some kind of deal for a given TV but what is the general trend for manufacturers new models and TV price drops?

I would appreciate the answer from anyone who has an idea about this trend. Thanks!

I think as soon as new models are announced at Electronic Shows.

The last several years the trend has been to start rolling out new models around June/July. Sharp seems to release new models when they feel like it.

What should be expected to happen to the prices in the short term? Particularly before and after christmas and before and after the superbowl?

An auto dealer has an investment in each car. You can get one that just arrived for the same price you can if it has been there for ten months. You just have to know how not to get ripped-off.;)

The only benefit of a year-end sale is low APR, or no APR. Again, if you don't know the actual investment the dealer has in the car, you are probably not saving a dime on interest. They are going to get as much out of you as they can.

There is always going to be the deal of the day. It's unpredictable. For me, my TV died Thursday night. No joking. I got on the net, and found a one day only deal(Black Friday) on the TV I ordered. I checked every audio/video website I knew, and it was an unbelievable deal. While it's not the best rated TV out there, it is a good one.

So, my point is, if you are ready to buy, find the deal of the day.;) No need to wait. IMO

Places to look of the top of my head. All authorized to sell.

Did u check out hte BF deals going around this time? I've seen some pretty darn insane deals floating around, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some really low prices for Christmas. With the digital mandate closing in on US consumers in 2009, I expect 2009 to be the year of the HD and 2008 will probably be when the push really begins. Expect to see mad deals then!

When i worked at circuit city as a tv/ht salesman for a couple years i noticed:

1. Theres a week every month when the TV you want is on a really good sale all throughout the year.
2. Prices overall start to drop from black friday to the week of the superbowl (these were always lower than black friday, overall).
3. New models would start droping as we came up on the middle of the year between May and July.
4. Sharp does whatever they feel like.
5. If there is a new model on the floor the same time as an old model the old one will be considerably less. Big time less. I noticed the panny plasmas were nearly $1000 differance when they went from silver to black.
6. Price match is your friend.

sup guys? I haven't been here in ages had to resign, anyways juanedilio
just to let you know it all depends on what you are looking for, some of the larger LCD's have more markup and thus allows retailers to sell some for a deep sale price and still make some sort of profit, and while your counterpart plasmas don't have as much mark up any who sometimes you can get an extremely great deal before big events, because what happens is good marketing, most people await deals and what not around big events but in reality you can sometimes get a better deal prior to these big events i.e; superbowl x-mas, and so on. and this is true I've worked at Circuit City and now I work @ Sears, and this is usually the case, also it is good to get along with your sales associate, for me, I like it when a customer is not rude and are very friendly, I tell them hey if you wait this t.v. is gonna on sale this day or what not, understand also that most sales associates aren't the same, but I too am a consumer and I always look out for my nicest customers regardless of what they buy, :D like I am not eager to help someone who is a jerk or rude even if it is something that has a higher commission, like I said not all salesmen are the same. but if you need to know more, just Pm and I would more than happy to help you out!:D

Cheers!
Hector
