TV Problem, any help appreciated.

I have a panasonic plasma, an onkyo receiver, some speakers, and phillips DVD player hooked up to DirecTV Satellite service.

The first time I try to watch TV after it has been off for a while the picture does not show up for a good 5 minutes. I can hear audio but no picture. It does the same thing when I first try to watch a DVD. When I watch my Locals over the air antenna it works immediately. I think it used to do this for much longer before I had directv replace the receiver, but it is still doing it for a short time and will probably get worse as time goes on as it seemed to with the previous reciever. Before I swapped the reciever out it would take 20 minutes to 40 minutes to show picture. Not sure what to do.

Maybe a HDMI pairing issue? How are things hooked up? HDMI -> receiver -> tv? Need more info here.

Best way to narrow where the problem is will be to find out what item has the problem as it's unlikely they all took a dump. If you use the receiver for video passthrough then try hooking directly to the TV to see if it happens then.

Assuming you use HDMI:
It sounds like the HDMI out on the receiver and the TV input aren't syncing well. This could be due to a few things including a loose cable, damaged cable, or a failing port. Try reseating the cable, replacing the cable, or changing to a different TV input.
