Ok here's the deal.........
I have a 46" samsung LCD tv and i'm wanting to set up a somewhat low end to mid level surround sound system.....surprise!!!! Anyway, i got the polk audio 6750 speaker system to start with. I am trying to stay under or close to $300 on the receiver. I have my ps3, cable box, dvd player hooked up via hdmi to my tv and it looks great. Do i really need a receiver with hdmi inputs to plug these things into? Or will my tv suffice and i can just run my speakers through the receiver? One CC person recommended plugging it all up to the tv and running an optic cable to the receiver for the surround sound. Another recommended a receiver with hdmi. ugh, what do i do? I have an apt by the way but looking to the future and would like a 7.1 receiver by the way. I know, WANT WANT WANT! If i don't need the hdmi on the rec. i was looking at the denon avr-687....good choice? or with the hdmi necessary, possibly the onkyo tx-sr505....good choice there? Thank you in advance.
