Hello to all-I am seeking a solution to a problem my wife & I are having w/ our 7 yr. old & his sneaking off to watch TV in the basement.
We have a TV that has the cable channel system built in ( no set top box required)- the cable comes out of the wall to hook in the back of the tv...on the other side of the wall we have a semi-finished basement that the cable line comes out of the faceplate fixture & runs back to the house (source) distribution.
Is there a cut out switching systerm I can buy or build to allow me to hide & provide us w/ a method to foil his sneakiness & control his time & content on the tube.
Any type of flip toggle switch or rotary dial switch would be perfect.
Thank You

If you drill holes in the hot and neutral tangs you can put a lock through the holes. Use a small combination lock so there's no key to lose. This should stop any 7 year old from using the TV.

Doesn't the TV have parental controls? Turn off all the good channels...

How about some discipline...?? No consequence means no reason to stop.

depending on how the wiring goes down to the TV, you can get an A/B switch and wire it into the A side. Wire B to nothing. and the common to the TV. A means TV on, B means TV off. Put it out of reach and you should be done.
