TV as centre speaker...

Ok, so I'm new here, and desperately needing some help.

I have a JVC tv, and a Yamaha receiver. I am setting up the surround system, and the TV manual says that I can use the tv as the centre speaker for the system. Sure enough, there is a menu setting for this, and a Centre Input on the back of the TV.

But on the receiver, the only output for the centre speaker is the regular speaker wire clips. So here's my question (and yes, I'm a home theatre virgin!) Is there a cable that I can use to connect the TV with an RCA type plug to the receiver with the speaker wire clips? If not, can I make my own????????

help...

You can get something called a line level converter that will take speaker level in and give you RCA out, but TV speakers are generally not going to perform well enough to suffice as a good center.

To tell it like it is, it's gonna suck. The center is responsible for 90% of the sound from a home theater.

To add to what Mark & j_garcia said, ditch the TV center speaker strategy. As Mark so eloquently said, it will truly suck. However if you do want to use your receiver and HT speakers, mute the TV speakers and only use your stereo speakers that are connected to the receiver. You will then have what is called a "phantom center". If you are sitting in the sweet spot between the two front speakers it sounds just like there really is a center speaker.
