Turn it up!

I have a Denon receiver AVR-S930H and over the last year or so out of no where the volume will start cranking up and you can't stop it unless you physically jump up and turn off the receiver. It will completely max out! I suspected it may be caused by my Amazon Fire Cube but it doesn't have a volume control? Has anyone experienced this and what may be causing the issue?

I'd first try a soft reset and if that didn't do it, a microprocessor/factory reset....the only time I had an avr do that was one that completely crapped out soon after (but was still within the return period so back it went).
