hey guys,

I have 2 Panasonic Viera plasmas. My 46" is 2 years old and has never been tuned and i just bought a 58" TC-P58s2. Can I tune them properly or do i need to have someone come out?

Thanks

You can do it yourself, depending on what properly means, but the best cals will need measuring equipment, software, and a huge learning curve. Either way, it will cost a lot to have a pro level cal.

A good monetary compromise is to run search functions here and elsewhere for recommended settings, and SM offset values.

The key is to go from large macro things, with the fine tuning at the end. Therefore, pic mode is the first choice. Consumer level settings are the next. SM stuff being the very last.

Check out Spears Munsil benchmark bluray. Some things may look the same when you tweak, others make a big diff, depends on tv.

When you play with contrast, check again on brightness, and vice versa. They affect each other.

I have a Panasonic Viera Plasma and used the Spears & Munsil bluray to set it up properly. It may appear a bit darker/warmer than usual, but in the end the color is much more accurate.

Well i think this is already too late for your 46'' one.(2 years old).. lol...the tune is done already even if you didnt do it or knew at the time you had to do it!...but PLS with your new S2 dont set it on ''torch mode''....at least for the 200 first hours!.
