I recently sold a McIntosh MVP 851 for $600 through my local dealer. I'm also going to sell a 42" 720p Pioneer Elite (non Kuro). It was the last year model before the Kuros came out. I also have a $100 scratch ticket and an extra $150 from some vinyl I sold. Basically I'm looking in the $1300-$1500 territory. I live in a apartment so hanging on the wall is not an option. I sit about 8.5 feet away. Don't really care about 3-D. The dealer will also give me a discount. He carries Panasonic, Samsung and Sony. Any suggestions on these 3 makes.

Panasonic plasma 60" if budget allows. In pana plasma range, ST is the lowest series you should look at.
I got mine 55" ST on big sale for $970

I'll second the Panasonic plasma. I have a 55" non-3D that I got a few years ago and have been really happy with it. I'd keep an eye on Amazon as well. I found mine on sale there for about $200 cheaper than I found in any local stores. I have prime so shipping was free which helped....

My folks have a 60" (I think) Samsung plasma non-3D and it seems to be a pretty good one as well. I can't tell much of a difference between the two. Both seem like really solid TV's.

Good luck.

I have two LG LCD smart tv's and they've been good for our needs.
