12 channel amp to Dennon AVR-1705? Help

I'm using an optical input from a squeezebox for music source...

The 1705 doesn't have pre-amp outputs. That makes it pretty hard to hook it up to an amp. You would need to find something to turn the speaker level outputs into a line level RCA output (they do make these and they were on the site not too long ago just can't remember where).

I'm guessing that you wanted to run all channels to the amp, if you only wanted a couple of channels for a home audio set up you could more than likely use the zone 2 outputs.

I want to utilize the optical digital in from my Squeezebox to the Denon and then I've already got the 12 channel amp wired with my speakers, I just need to get the Squeezebox signal to the 12 channel amp, digitally, that's why I'm using the opyical in from the optical out on the SB in stereo, so can I utilize Zone 2 outputs on the back of Denon? I don't know where those are?????

OK, well I just took a better look at the 1705 and it doesn't seem to have zone 2 outs either.

The speaker outputs are the speaker terminals.

Now as for hooking up your squeeze box digitally the receiver takes the digital signal and turns it into analog. Now the next step of getting the receiver hooked to the amp. Well that's not so easy with the receiver you have. It has no line level outputs on it. So you would need something to convert the speaker outs to RCA line level outputs to then hook to the amp.

Is this for a home theater or what? What model amp is it? These are all things that will help in figuring out if it's possible to do what you want. Also what speakers are you using?

The amp is a HTD 1235

It's just for listening to stereo music. No home theater application.
