Trying to decide what sub: SVS pb13-ultra vs. Fathom F113

I really like the reviews on both subs....I was thinking of buying 2 svs 13'' for the price of one fathom f113. I cant imagine the two of them being blown away by the f113. Im also looking into the AS-EQ1 Subwoofer EQ that will be released shortly... Any thoughts?

I was also wondering.... will the AS-EQ1 Subwoofer EQ work with 2 subs? I am very ignorant when it comes to subs. This will be my first purchase. I have no idea how the EQ's work.

Yes, the AS-EQ1 can be used with 2 subs, and I would definitely go for 2 PB13 Ultras over a single F113 as long as you have the room for it, and especially if you also get a AS-EQ1.

Yea, that's kinda a slam dunk.

Plus you get a 5% discount when you buy 2 or more subs, or if you are a repeat customer, so you save even more that way.

Choice is determined by end use.

The F113 is likely to sound superior for music purposes if you cross around 70-80Hz, due to the much smaller volume and lack of upper harmonic reflections/reverberation in the cabinet. The SVS, being so large, and most likely having insufficient acoustical dampening for this much larger space (I have never seen any commercial large size sub use adequate internal acoustical damping), will likely have a 'not as clear' sound when crossed at 70-80Hz range.

For HT, a couple of SVS PB-13ULTRAS will be superior, no question.

Yeah, i just got off the phone with a SVS rep....if I buy two 13 ultras and the EQ they're willing to go to 10% off....thats great!

Sounds like a no brainer to me. And even though what WmAx said is true, the PB13 will still sound great with music as it's a very high quality sub.

Still paired with the EQ system it would seem like a much better choice. An Eqed pair of the SVS subs would likely be comrable to an uneqed single f113 in terms of overall in room performance. Especially considering the lack of sensitivity to resonance most folks have. Plus it might be easy to improve the SVS subs with a bit of rockwool.

A pair of Custom Kappa Perfects would be the best of both worlds and be cheaper. Plus you could use the DCX 2496. If you want to go the more involved route.

On a personal note I much prefer the sleek look of the JL Audio subs. And aesthetics are important for many people.
