I have been looking to buy a reciever for my home theater. I have narrowed my choices down to Harman Kardon AVR 525, Sony STR-DA2000ES, or the Onkyo TX-SR701 all of which i know are quality machines i just dont know which is the best. Any assistance in choosing would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I like the Net-tune of Onkyo. For 200$(US) you can get 250 GB Hard disk and put them on your PC and it becomes a server than can hold 400 CD (in their original format).

No network: use your powerline to establish a network with two ethernet wall mount (http://www.asokausa.com/products/) and you are in business.

With equal sound, choose Onkyo.

There is also the upcomming Denon 3805 and the Yamaha 2400 which is in the reference system of audioholics.

All of the three receivers you mention are good receivers, and have similar features, so it comes down to which one sounds the best you you. Listen to them all with a speaker config. like the one you will be using at home (or hope ot use), and pick whatever suits your ears the best. There is no right or wrong answer as to which you would pick. I would lean towards the H/K or Onkyo because I don't like Sony's performance when it comes to their receivers, but then again, that is a personal pref. If one has a few features you like over the others and sounds good, there's your winner.
