TrueHD compatibility?

Once Dolby releases TrueHD will be able to load into current receivers via a RS-232 port?

Some info here and here

Dont quote me on this but I read somewhere that for older receivers TrueHD will play through, I think, optic or coax but at a lower bitrate(something around 600kbps) for backwards compatibility.

In the second link above it says:
24. I have a two-year-old A/V receiver. How can I take advantage of the sonic benefits of Dolby TrueHD?
If your A/V receiver has an HDMI input that supports multichannel PCM or an external multichannel (analog) input, you’re all set. Be sure you purchase an HD player that is equipped with complementary output connections (HDMI/external multichannel outputs) and supports the channel capabilities of your corresponding A/V receiver and speaker setup.
For the RS-232 port, I have no idea:confused:

cheers:)

No there are no products on the market right now that are upgradable to TrueHD via firmware change. This protocol will only transmit on HDMI ver 1.3 or higher and the interface chips for this aren't ready.

What will happen is you can get the ability to do normal DD at up to 640kbps (or less compression than usual) assuming your processor can support it.

Or use analogue connection between the new player and your receiver.
