TrueHD and Yamaha 5850

Hi, all:

I have an older receiver (Yamaha 5850) and a new Sharp Blu Ray player (BD-HP20U).

I understand that this Blu-Ray player is capable of TrueHD, but my receiver does not have an HDMI input. I am currenly using optical cable from the receiver to the Blu-ray player.

Am I out of luck on this, or is there a way to receive TrueHD, and, if so, how?
Also, is this the best audio set up, or should I continue to use the optical cable?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thank you

Receiver connections

If your receiver has the multichannel analog inputs (my HTR-5860 does) and the BluRay has the analog outputs then the BluRay play cann decode TruHD and send it to your receiver. Some of the entry level BluRay and HD-DVD players are only including the HDMI output so they will require a receiver with HDMI audio to take full advantage of the new formats.

Pick up some inexpensive cables for the analog audio connections (if applicable) from monoprice.
