Trouble with making phones understand MP3 metadata

G'day.....

I do have a problem with making phones understand the metadata of the mp3 files, it is the same on a range of Nokia phones like N95, N95 8GB, Sony Ericsson W995 and more.

I use EAC (Exact Audio Copy to rip files into flac format, I use flac as my primary format and... no programs, as far as I have seen, have any issues understanding these, could be Windows with Winamp, or Linux with Amarok or squeezecenter and others....

I use Switch sound converter (NCH software) to convert from flac to mp3, and it seems like no computer programs have any issues with understanding these mp3 files. I transfer these songs to phone.... and our phones, however does not... and claims that many of these songs are «unknown title» by «unknown artist», something wrong with bl¤#% phones

I have 8000 songs ripped perfectly well by EAC, so please don't suggest any re-repping :p

Any ideas anyone

I'm not sure how you are going through the conversion from FLAC to MP3 but I would imagine that the MP3 tags aren't getting properly implemented in whatever conversion program you are using. If the FLAC file has a place to store this metadata, then the MP3 needs the same data transferred into the ID3 metadata location.

I would try some different programs to convert your FLAC files over to MP3 files.
